“Beat It Without Permission”

-Dr. Bropleh Urges President Weah

By Reuben Sei Waylaun

Former Information Minister, Dr. Laurence Bropleh says President George Manneh Weah doesn’t need any permission on how to lead the country as the chief executive.

Responding to the President’s later slang ‘beat It, driver beat It” Dr. Bropleh said as president, the Liberian leader has all the rights to lead by not asking for permission.

Appearing on Okay FM recently, Dr. Bropleh said “Mr. President you don’t have to ask for permission to beat it, you are in the driver seat. We trust you with the destiny of Liberia and you don’t have to ask the car boy whether to go 30 or 40 miles per hour.”

According to Dr. Bropleh, President Weah knows what the calamity is, the legal miles per hour and he should be aware that the Liberian people elected him to lead the country.

The former Information Minister said if the President is afraid of people because of ‘watch hunt’ he won’t make any progress in his administration.

“If you afraid of people saying you witch-hunting, than we will never go anywhere,” he said.

At the same time, the former Information Minister has described as obstruction to the ongoing investigation Tuesday’s clarification by the Central Bank Governor Nathaniel Patray that ‘no money is missing’.

Dr. Bropleh has described the CBL statement as obstruction to the ongoing investigation about the alleged disappearance of over 15 billion Liberian dollars.

On Tuesday, the Central Bank of Liberia through its Governor Nathaniel Patry rubbished news of missing money from the country thereby calling on the government to lift travel restrictions on some employees of the Central Bank of Liberia.

Governor Patray also added that records of the CBL shows the total amount of money printed and placed in the reserve vaults of the Bank was LRD15.5 billion for the period of 2016-2018.

The Former MICAT Boss stressed that such revelation from the Bank has the propensity to undermine the investigation.

Dr. Bropleh said conflicting statements coming from officials of government coupled with travel restrictions make one to reason that there is more confusion.

Commenting further, Dr. Bropleh called on the President to be strong and resolute in fighting corruption.
