By Jackson C. Clay, Jr.

Bong County district one Representative, Albert Hills said he is embarrassed and disappointed in the actions of his constituents for reportedly vandalizing the properties of the MNG Gold Company operating in the area.

Speaking to reporters at his Capital Building Office in Monrovia, Representative Hills said it was wrong on the part of his people to carry out such reported act against the company, terming their actions as criminal.

“I am embarrassed and disappointed by the action of my people, because when the accident took place, the angry crowd on the scene burned the truck that was involved in the accident, MNG was not part of the accident why now vandalize their properties,” Representative Hills said.

The Bong County lawmakers stated his people had no business of acting to the company because according to him, it was not the company’s vehicle that was involved in the accident but a sub-contracted Chinese company.

Representative Hills asserted that though he cannot put any monetary value to the damage done to the company, he was quick to point out that the damage done to the company was very grave.

He disclosed that police in the area has put the situation under control thereby arresting about fifty-one (51) persons in connection to the crime and called on his citizens to remain calm as the police investigation continues into the matter so as to bring the perpetrators to book and face justice.

He expressed deepest condolences to the bereaved family and promised to under write the burial cost of those killed.

It can be recalled that some citizens of Bong County particularly District one early this week vandalized and looted the facilities of a mining company, MNG Gold operating within the area.

The looting and vandalism were as a result of a sub-contracted Chinese company by the MNG Gold vehicle carrying sands ran into a motor cycle thereby killing four persons instantly on the spot.

Following the accident, angry residents immediately burned the vehicle and subsequently rushed into the facilities of the MNG Gold and started carrying on destruction and looting of the company’s properties.

Meanwhile, Representative Hills has expressed sincere remorse to the company and appealed that the company pardon his citizens for their actions carried out.
