A 9th grade student of the Sumokota Public School in Zalemia Town in Zorzor District, Lofa County, Krubo Gibson has been allegedly beheaded by Smithwou Ballah after shooting her husband, Mulbah Sumo as well.
According to Tokpa Tarnue, a local journalist in the area, Krubo Gibson (the deceased) and her husband, Mulbah Z. Flomo, a senior student at the Lofa County Community College (LCCC) were both on their farm on June 14, 2018 when the alleged perpetrator identified as Smithwou Ballah shot at Mulbah Flomo with a single barrel gun and later ran after his wife, Krubo Gibson and shot her as well.
The alleged perpetrator according to the local journalist, allegedly beheaded Krubo Gibson, cutoff her right hand, right foot and immediately removed her private parts in the name of destroying evidence.
The report further said the husband who was shot first managed to get to a nearby town (Fassabu) and was rushed to a hospital in Zorzor, Lofa County, but was later transferred to the Tellewoyan Hospital in Voinjama after going into coma for hours despite earlier news of his death.
Some inhabitants of Zalemia town who earlier spoke to journalists following the incident recounted that the alleged perpetrator, Smithwou Ballah and the victim Mulbah Flomo were once involved in a conflict relating to land, but the victim at the time won the case which they believed might have resulted to the shooting.
Following the incident, aggrieved citizens of the area blocked the main road leading to the provincial capital of Lofa County, Voinjama for several hours demanding the living body of the alleged perpetrator and the parts extracted from Krubo Gibson.
The demonstration allegedly resulted into the destruction of four houses belonging to the alleged perpetrator, his father and brother completely and his rice kitchen set ablaze; while the father of the perpetrator Kollie Ballah who is a school principal in the area is being transferred to Monrovia for treatment after been allegedly flogged by the angry crowd in Zalemia town.
Eyewitnesses also alleged that the Zorzor police station was also on June 15, 2018 attacked by angry crowd who were seen throwing stones over the building leaving some solar plates damaged.
Huge number of security officers led by 102 of the Liberia National Police, Robert Buddy are said to be currently in the district to put the situation under control.
Meanwhile, five police officers are currently undergoing treatment after their car had an accident while on their way from Gbarnga to Zorzor to respond to the situation. The alleged perpetrator is said to be in police custody.
At the same time, calm is said to be gradually returning to Zorzor in Lofa County following the alleged killing of a 9th grade student of the Sumokota Public School nearly Zalemia town.
